I began my exploration of psychological therapies while working with offenders in prisons. I initially trained in the CBT based Enhanced Thinking Skills Programme at HMP Brixton under the aegis of the Psychology department but I was quickly ‘headhunted’ and began delivering the courses on a freelance basis at HMPs Ford, Highdown, Downview and Wandsworth. I then moved on to working on a one to one basis with soon to be released prisoners to support them in their transition from prison to life in the community. Noticing that many of my clients ended up in prison through drug and alcohol abuse I began to specialise in this area and became accredited by FDAP (Federation of Drug And Alcohol Professionals). I have studied Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Person-Centred Therapy at Wealden Psychology Institute and Bexhill College, achieving a combined Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I later achieved a Diploma in Trauma Therapy from Wealden Psychology Institute. I currently work for the NHS as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and am a registered & accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists).
